Introducing Danielle Taylor from the children's brand Madras Made!
Q: How many kids do you have? What are their names?
A: I have 3 children. Charlie is 5, India is 3, and Bodhi is 11 months.
Q: Hardest part about working and being a mom during a pandemic?
A: Everything. Ha! Having little children and having rare personal time and space.
Q: Any moments that were super hard but you will look back and laugh?
A: Keeping my kids out of my husband's office. Specifically, my son running into the office naked while he was on a zoom call for work--pretty funny. They don't understand that Dad being home means it's not the weekend! My son has also started calling my husband "disappearing dad" because he seems to have work calls during chaotic moments and vanishes into thin air.
Q: Where is your business located? Where do you live?
A: We just moved to Austin, TX. My business partner is in San Diego, CA.
Q: What is Madras Made all about?
A: Madras Made seeks to marry the traditional with the new. We believe in making items that can be used, worn, and washed every day and are classic in style and design. We are into simple and delicate pieces without sacrificing on the feeling of luxury. For us, time with the people we love is precious. We believe that the things we wear and the products we use should make our lives better; we hope they make you feel good too.
Q: How has the pandemic affected your business?
A: We are all about connecting with people and growing our business by interacting with others and children wearing our clothes. Right now, families are at home and trying to entertain, manage, cope, support, and educate their children while working. It isn't easy--kids getting dressed up isn't a priority--but we have found making a habit of getting dressed has made it easier for our family.
Q: How can we support you?
A: We are all learning so much about ourselves as parents as we are teaching our children important lessons. We won't be the same after this experience--we can't be--but its what we do with this new knowledge that we can create, rebuild, and perhaps change for the better by continuing to play and being creative. Then just let us inspire you and your little ones!
Q: Inspirational quote?
A: "The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions." - Oliver Wendell Holmes
